We want your child to feel happy and safe in pre-school. To make sure that this is the case, the staff will work with you to decide on how to help your child to settle into the pre-school. Check out the 'Role of the Key Person and Settling In' policy for more information, (go to Our Policies in the left hand bar).
Please do come along anytime to visit the pre-school to meet the staff and children or contact us if you have any queries.
It would be very much appreciated if you could supply a change of clothes and underwear/nappies and wipes (as required) in your pre-school bag.
The pre-school encourages children to gain the skills which help them to be independent and look after themselves. These include taking themselves to the toilet and taking off - and putting on - outdoor clothes. Clothing which is easy for them to manage will help them to do this, for example tracksuit style trousers or elasticised waist skirts and trousers which make ease of toilet training but also for climbing and activities such as outside play.
We would also ask parents NOT to bring children to pre-school in good clothes. We do provide protective clothing for the children when they are playing with messy activities, however there are still occasions when items of clothing could get a little messy. This is normally as a result of the children having fun and enjoying the learning opportunities that these messy activities provide.
As the children have access to outdoor play for most of the session they may be putting coats, hats etc on and off a number of times. It is not possible for staff to keep track of every item of clothing of each child. Clear labelling will ensure that your child comes home wearing their own coat etc.
We ask for sun cream to always be applied before a child comes to pre-school. We will re-apply sun cream for children staying all day just after lunch.
Children should please have their shoulders covered and if the children are wearing open toed sandals can they please wear socks.
We would prefer that your child wears studs rather than hoops. Pre-School cannot be held responsible if an earring is mislaid or causes an accident.
We would prefer your child not to bring toys from home into pre-school, these can easily get lost, or mixed up with pre-school toys. Also, your child may not want to share with the other children which could cause distress. However, if your child has a very ‘special’ Item which they use as a ‘comfort’ please speak to your child’s Key Person.
Also please ensure children don’t have any money with them as this could easily get lost and this may well cause distress to your child.
